Antonucci and colleagues find adult stepchildren give little help to stepmothers in dementia caregiving

Carey Wexler Sherman, Noah Webster, and Toni Antonucci looked at social interactions and support networks for late-life remarried women who were caregivers to husbands with dementia. They found that stepchildren comprised the largest portion of negative interactions — adding to rather than helping with the stepmother’s caregiving burden.
