The objective of this research is to consider how changes in the supply of highly-skilled immigrants affect wages, employment and supply-side adjustments in the U.S. science and engineering labor markets. In addition, the proposed work examines how the increased “internationalization” of the science and engineering workforce in recent decades affects market adjustments by testing the hypothesis that the supply (to the U.S. market) of scientists and engineers is substantially more elastic now that it was during the early post-World War II period.
