PDHP Workshop: Age-Period-Cohort Analysis in Population and Health Research

Please join us for the latest PDHP workshop “Age-Period-Cohort Analysis In Population & Health Research presented by Yang Claire Yang of the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.  This workshop introduces recent advances in methodological tools for modelling temporal variations due to age, period, and cohort (APC) effects, and will provide useful guidelines for how to conduct empirical analysis of time-related change based on different research designs and data structures, encompassing four main methods:
  • Linear APC models for aggregate age-by-time period tables of rates
  • Cross-classified random effects models for repeated cross-sectional surveys of individuals
  • Growth curve models for accelerated longitudinal cohort panels
  • Longitudinal integrative data analysis (IDA) for synthesized cohort sequential longitudinal panels
Each of the above will include reviews of key theoretical background and principles, illustrations of prototypical datasets, and models and methods for analyzing such data.  Example code using SAS, Stata, and R will also be provided.
As always, this workshop is free of cost and open to the public, so please feel free to distribute this e-mail to others who may be interested.  For more information and to RSVP, please visit pdhp.isr.umich.edu/workshops.  Light refreshments will be served for those attending in-person.

RSVP to join the workshop live at ISR Thompson 1430 or on Zoom. The event is Aug. 20, from 9 to 1 pm.
