Women’s reproductive mental health: the bidirectional relationship between policy and research
Health services and policy researchers evaluate effects of state and federal legislation on clinical and economic outcomes, including quality of, cost of, and access to care. Findings can provide needed information to refine and implement programs, practices, and legal strategies, thereby generating an iterative process to benefit population health. An interdisciplinary, multi-method approach can strengthen the societal impact of evidence used in both research and policymaking. This lecture will use examples from perinatal mental health to elucidate these arguments.
