MPIs Lang and Bailey have worked as a team for 4 years on the M-CARE Study which is the source of data for this R21 examining the measurement of abortion using survey self-report data and medical records. In collaboration with MPI Bailey at UCLA, MPI Lang at the University of Michigan will lead the linking of medical records to M-CARE survey data. This involves determining which records to request, establishing data use agreements, ensuring data security protocols are met, and working with Planned Parenthood of Michigan to link M-CARES participants to their medical records. MPI Lang will also coordinate with Co-I Dalton, a board-certified obstetrician gynecologist and physician at PPMI, to interpret sometimes complex medical record coding, including diagnosis codes and billing information, which capture abortion and pregnancy outcomes. After the linking of data, all investigators will conduct statistical analyses and collaborate on writing manuscripts for publication.
